Yucky Nails & Pongy Feet: Part 2

In a previous post I told you of my journey of discovery regarding feet and nails, well here are some of the valuable lessons I learned, I hope they help you. THE PROBLEM WITH NAILS ONYCHAUSIS – hypertrophy of the nail plate, ONYCHATROPIA – atrophy of the nail plate ONYCHOMADESIS – separation of the nail plate from the bed. ONYCHOMYCOSIS – fungal infection of the nail plate. Etc. etc. etc. I acknowledge that there are treatments available from G.P.s and pharmacies, which may or may not work in the long term. The safety of such and their possible effect on the liver are not the subject of this blog and you should do your own homework before considering these options....

Yucky Nails & Pongy Feet: Part 1

When I was talked into starting to write a blog I was assured that it would be just a case of writing interesting stuff about my experiences as a homeopath. So I merrily set of writing about things that I found curious, with the idea that if anyone ever did read it, they too might find it amusing or even interesting. Little did I realize that, not only would people read it but then someone would ask for a topic to be covered. Not just any topic but Fungal nails and Athletes foot. In previous blogs I have referred to the practice of homeopathy as being a bit like detective work.  As we all know, one very famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes...

Allergies: Hay Fever

Of all allergies Hay Fever is probably the easiest to control and, in many cases, to cure. Many years ago a colleague friend of mine from Sweden shared with me the result of his research that he had refined into a standard One-Size-Fits-All (or nearly all) treatment for Hay Fever. I have been using this method with my patients ever since, and in most cases it not only will control the symptoms immediately but also with annual use progressively cures the condition. This time of year always brings with it the woes of Seasonal Allergies, Allergic Rhinitis, Food Allergies and good old-fashioned Hay Fever. I use the description flippantly because Hay Fever isn't so old-fashioned is it? Whilst there have always been some people who have had allergic reactions of one degree and another to allergens, over the 30+ years I have been in practice I have seen an explosion in allergies, and especially the severest forms including anaphylactic shock. Why? This is where the detective work comes in. On close questioning, a parent who tells you that her child has “always” reacted will say that actually the baby was fine up until 3, 4 or 6 months etc.  So why would...

The Homeopathic Dectective

A Homeopath, in fact any doctor, deals with cases and events in people’s lives on a daily basis which are fascinating, complex and intriguing. It is a bit like being a detective trying to solve a mystery, you have to see patterns in seemingly insignificant and apparently unconnected symptoms and actions which provide the clues to finding a true cure. People are interested in other people, what happens to them and especially their private lives. Therefore it has many times be suggested that I write about some of the common, and not so common, cases which present in my surgery. Having run my own busy practice for nearly 30 years I have many fascinating cases and well-developed observations which have enthralled my...
